With its 7 500 inhabitants, Thuir was developed at the beginning of the Aspre and is its capital.
Ancient fortified medieval village, birthplace of the famous “Byrrh”, is a cultural, active and dynamic, and is as well city of fairs and markets.
The life animates the city and during the summer the entertainments make it even more attractive.
Furthermore it hides many treasures: “la Cellera” , founder of the village in 950, the ND de la Victoire church, the St Sebastien church from the fifteenth century, the chapel of the Pietad from the twelfth century and the remains and ruins and ancient watchtowers.
The ND de la Victoire church has a remarkable roman virgin from the thirteenth century.
